Car Shopping Now Quicker, Easier and Safer
Are you in the market for a new car? Maybe you’ve thought about it but dread doing all the research needed to decide on a new model that meets your family’s needs.
Wouldn’t it be easier if you could see the safety rating of the makes and models you’re considering – right there in the dealer’s showroom? Well, now there’s an app for that! Think of the time you’ll save!
Are you wondering why you should need to know a car’s safety rating before buying? Not only is it important that your new vehicle offer the best protection in a crash, but that safety rating will also impact your auto insurance bill.
Now, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), has made it easy for car shoppers to check on the auto safety ratings and crash test results from the dealer’s car lot or anywhere else. The Institute has launched a new mobile website for consumers who want to compare vehicle safety ratings.
And that’s not all you’ll find there. The IIHS mobile site allows you to get the latest highway safety news, compare child booster seat ratings and much more. For ongoing safety information, just use your smart phone to sign up for an automatic RSS feed and stay informed.
The IIHS regularly reports crash test results, showing how each car, truck, SUV and van measures up in protecting passengers in rear, side and front impact crashes and in rollovers. Based on their performance in these crash tests, a vehicle is rated as good, acceptable, marginal or poor. Those vehicles that reach the highest standards are given the distinction of TOP SAFETY PICK.
